Who is Dr. Ryan Matthew Thurman?

Let’s begin, as we do with all complex things, by simplifying the problem:

Ryan

This is my professional side, everything college and beyond. That’s how long I’ve been Ryan. My clients, students, and more recent friends all know me as Ryan. They know me as a professional in the field of statistics. They know me as a man with a PhD in Mathematics. They may even know me as a passionate person who focuses intently on all pursuits.

This is where my relevance to you comes in. I’m here to offer you my knowledge, skills, focus, and other abilities. I’ve got more training and drive than your project will likely ever need, so you can be sure that you will be understood and perhaps even instructed toward better options. My focus is never confined merely to what my instructors chose to cover either. I focus instead on the best mix of rigor and digestibility, even if it means I have learning to do. I love learning. I love tackling new and cutting-edge concepts.

Matthew

This is my familial side, everything from birth to college. My family and oldest friends know me as Matthew. They know me as the kind of person who’s always doing something. They know me as the guy who found a way out of poverty. They may even consider me one of the most naturally eccentric people they’ve ever met.

So, how does this part of my life relate to you and your problems? Quite easily. It’s all in the perspective. I have lots of perspective. I’ve been hungry and homeless and probably too much else. In a nutshell, I’m not just another bland noise in the crowd. I’m a person people remember and have opinions about, for better or worse. I’m the kind of character that sees your data as more than just characters.

Thurman

This is my more adventurous side. My outdoor friends know me as Thurman. They know me as the guy who went on a serious downhill mountain biking trip throughout the Northeast with virtually no training outside of BMX as a youth. They know me as the guy who kayaked to Molokini from Charley Young Beach in a rented 2-person kayak against 40 mph trade winds and 8 foot waves. They may even know me as the idiot who ran out of water on a hot Georgia trail only to be saved by sipping on baby wipes.

“Now, how does this stuff relate to my project???” Well, I’m glad you’ve asked. You can be sure that I won’t back down from the challenges of your project, that I will do what it takes to succeed. You can be certain that I know The Edge and that I’m well aware of myself and the world about me. As Hunter S. Thompson once said of this Edge: “There is no honest way to explain it because the only people who really know where it is are the ones who have gone over.” Ultimately, I’m here to tap full potential. I’m here to manifest a better reality with you.

So, there you have it. I’m a statistical consultant who knows how to live, who knows how to make life–and data–count. If I sound like the right cup of tea for your project, then Let’s Get Started. I look forward to learning more about you and your project!
